Alan John Harless, 83, of Hot Springs Village, passed away July 22, 2014. He was born March 7, 1931 to John and Ida Harless in Logansport, Indiana. He graduated from Burnettsville High School in Burnettsville, Indiana as part of the class of 1949. Al married Jane Stafford in 1952 and graduated from Purdue University in 1955 after a 2 year stint in the Army. He spent his working career in the agricultural field working for various companies in Peoria, Illinois. In 1978 he formed his own company in Frankfort, Indiana, selling agricultural supply products to farmers.
After retiring, Alan and Jane moved to Hot Springs Village in 1996. He belonged to Kirk in the Pines Presbyterian Church where he served on various committees.
Alan was a member of the American Legion where he had served as Commander at one time. He was also on the Veteran’s Memorial Committee and was a volunteer as Ambassador at the POA office, serving on several POA committees.
Alan is survived by his wife Jane of almost 62 years; children Marsha (Dave) Reeise, Elaine (Barry) Miller, Mark (Cynthia) Harless, and Janet (Walter) Frakes; grandchildren Amanda (Daniel) Haislip, Scott (Carissa) Reeise, Shana (Jason) Fry, Sean Miller, Joshua (Karen) Miller, Justin Miller, Danielle (Andre) Goss, Bridget Harless, Stephanie (Jason) Kennay, Bob (Sarah) Frakes, and Joe Frakes; great-grandchildren Alexa Haislip, Drew Haislip, Bradyn Reeise, Jacob Reeise, Jonathon Fry, Jared Fry, Kate Kennay, Cameron Kennay, Nellie Frakes, and Norah Frakes; sister Carolyn Crisswell of Burnettsville, Indiana.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at Kirk in the Pines Presbyterian Church in Hot Springs Village.
