     William Surface was born circa 1855 in Indiana. He was the son of Emanuel Surface and Mahala Johnson.

     Amalda Surface was born circa 1857 in Minnesota. She was the daughter of Emanuel Surface and Mahala Johnson.

     Josiah Surface was born circa 1859 in Minnesota. He was the son of Emanuel Surface and Mahala Johnson.

     Colonel B. Surface was born circa 1863 in Iowa. He was the son of Emanuel Surface and Mahala Johnson.

     Ellen DeLong was born on 25 May 1818 in Miami County, Ohio. She was the daughter of George DeLong and Elizabeth Statler. Ellen DeLong married John Edward Surface, son of Andrew Surface and Elizabeth Harless, 19 June 1843 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana.

     Ellen DeLong died 20 February 1897 in Allen County, Indiana.
