Friends of Friends Friday is a way to share “records of enslaved ancestors, whether they are your own ancestors or not…” I haven’t come across very many mentions of slaves in my search for Harlesses and I like to think this is because so few Harlesses were slave owners, but the ones I do come across will be shared on Friends of Friends Fridays.

Died: before 16 April 1856.

Bernard Victor Harless Obituary

Bernard V. Harless, 91, of Pacific Junction, died Nov. 24, 2012, at the Hospice With Heart facility in Glenwood. Funeral services are Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood. Rev. Gene Hilton will officiate. Interment will be held in the Martin Chapel Cemetery, Pacific Junction. A memorial fund has been established.

Bernard was born Feb. 20, 1921, in Laird, Colo., to Harold Victor and Geneva (Atwood) Harless. Following high school, Bernard faithfully served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corp. from 1942-45.

Bernard married Myrna M. Rupe Dec. 11, 1943, in Glenwood. To this union two children were born, Karen and Gregg. Bernard was employed as a railroad clerk for Burlington Northern Railroad until his retirement. He was a member of the Full Faith Church and Masonic Lodge. Bernard was a man of many talents. His woodworking, painting and making jewelry were just a few of his crafts. He could sew beautiful clothing for his family. Gardening and outdoor animals also gave him great pleasure. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed.

Preceding Bernard in death were his parents, sister, Margaret Mott and brother, Robert Harless. He is survived by his wife, Myrna Harless of Pacific Junction; children, Karen and Don Meredith of Omaha, Neb.; Gregg and Jackie Harless and grandson, Bryan Harless all of Glenwood: two half-sisters, Shirley Godfrey of Arvada, Colo.; Myra Rucker of Denver; nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many friends.

Clarence Emory Harless Obituary

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. Clarence “Emory” Harless, 63, was born March 19, 1947, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He passed away Friday, September 24, 2010, at his residence in Winter Haven, Florida.

He worked for Mosaic for 35 years. He was an avid motorcyclist and diver.

He is survived by his daughter, Keri Rom of Walton, Kentucky; sisters, Janina Urquhart of Immokalee, Florida and Kyraen Monica of Englewood, Florida; uncles, Kiwanis Harless, Mike Harless, and Bowaski Harless; aunt, Pat Harless; cousins, Yvonne Ballard, Renee Sanders, Denise Hughes, Yvette Middleton, and Johannah Harless; and many other cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial picnic will be held at Emory’s home Saturday, October 2, 2010. Contact the family at 863-412-1769 for details.

Ardnol Paul Harless Obituary

Ardnol Paul Harless
(November 9, 1915 – July 26, 2010)

Funeral services for Ardnol P. Harless will be conducted Friday, July 30, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the Martin Funeral Chapel of Elk City with Rev. Roger Woodson officiating. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City.

Ardnol Paul Harless was born November 9, 1915 at Elk City to William Brown and Flossie (Belknap) Harless and passed away Monday, July 26, 2010 at the age of 94. He attended Merritt Schools and was married to Velma Hasty on June 1, 1940 and they continued to live in the Merritt Community. Mr. Harless worked in the Merritt School System and retired after some 50 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Kimberly Jean Harless and 3 brothers, C.D., Arthur and Cecil.

Survivors include his wife: Velma of the home, 3 children, Linual Harless and his wife Penny of Oklahoma City, Loretta Brewer and her husband Kenneth of Carter, Denise Thornton and her husband Billy of Delhi, 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Alfred Henry Louis Harless Obituary

Alfred Henry Louis Harless, age 82, of Faunsdale, died Sept. 24, 2009, at Woodhaven Manor Nursing Home in Demopolis.

Mr. Harless was born May 21, 1927, in Tuscaloosa County to the late James Daniel and Eliza Crocker Harless.

He is survived by his loving wife, Irene Watkins Harless of Faunsdale; two sons, Alfred Harless (Linda) of the Mount Hermon community in Greensboro and Danny Harless (Rita) of Faunsdale; one sister, Levis Waldrop of San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren, Lance Harless, Jim Harless, Peggy Harless, and Jenny Duncan; and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at the Mt. Hermon Cemetery with the Reverend Trish Brunner officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel directing.
