Louise Parker Harless, age 91, of Birmingham died January 11, 2012. She was the daughter of Walter Jenkins Parker, Sr. and Mattie Ethel West Parker. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry C. Harless. She is survived by one son; Wendell Harless, and 3 daughters; Betty Hopson (Jerry), Donna and Mattilyn Harless, four grandchildren; Cindy Hopson Brown, Chris Hopson (Melissa), Ron Harless (Stephanie) and Christy Harless Parrish (Eric), nine great-grandchildren; Cortney Harless, Brian and Matthew Brown, Kaylin Hopson, Jason, Anthony and Christopher Parrish, Lizzy and Katie Witte, cherished nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends. Mrs. Harless was a graduate of Woodlawn High School, class of 1938 and co-chaired the class reunion committee for many years. Over the years, she has been a member of Handel Choral Society, Lions Club Auxiliary, Friends Sewing Circle, Spartan Club wives, Allegro Music Club, The Mis-Chords Organ Club, Alabama Chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society, Zamora Widows Club and The Tuesday Morning Bunch. She has been a member of 76th Street Presbyterian Church, Ruhama Baptist Church, South Avondale Baptist Church, and the television ministry of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church. For many years she worked in the nursery at Ruhama Baptist Church, sang duets with her husband for Sunday School departments, church services, weddings, and funerals, and was a soloist in church choirs. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 12th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held Friday January 13th at 2:00 pm, both at Johns-Ridout’s Southside Chapel, 2116 University Blvd, Birmingham.

Charlotte Evelyn Bush Harless Obituary

Evelyn Bush Harless, age 80, of Granite Falls, passed away at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson. Our beautiful mom passed away, Wednesday, September 7, 2011. She was born January 19, 1931 in Caldwell County to the late Doyle Bush and Alma McRary Bush. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Bud Bush.

Mrs. Harless retired from Fairfield Chair in 1989. She was a member of Lenoir Community Church, and attended Solid Rock Baptist Church.

Mrs. Harless is survived by five children, Pamela Harless of Granite Falls, Jeff Harless and wife Maria Jo Harless of Manheim, PA, Hal Harless and wife Martha Clawson Harless of Kernersville, NC, Andrea Harless and life partner, Tracey Kern of St. Petersburg, FL and Matt Harless and wife Catherine of the U.S. Air Force; sister, Pat Fox of Cornelius; two cats, Maja and Littlebit; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Jerry Stines and Rev. Jon Cameron. Interment will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Robert Harless, Jonathan Harless, David Harless, Steve Tolbert Jr., Lee Resor and Rustin Clawson.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Harless and Tim Clawson.

Walter Harrison Harless Jr Obituary

WALTER HARRISON HARLESS JR., 50, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Saturday, January 8, 2011. He was born March 31, 1960, in Baltimore, Maryland, a son of the late Walter Harrison Harless Sr. and Frances Ellen Armentrout Harless. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Charlene Higginbotham Harless and one brother, David Kent Harless. He is survived by one son, David Earl Harless of Huntington; two sisters, Lynn Lambert of Ironton, Ohio and Kathy Dominick of Tampa, Florida; one brother, Timothy Harless of Niceville, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, W.Va., by the Rev. Richard Black. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Howard Earl Harless Obituary

Howard Earl Harless, age 83, of Tuscaloosa, died Jan. 2, 2011, at Ben Russell Medical Center in Alexander City. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Springer officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, T. Forrest and Frances Springer Harless, and his grandparents, John H. and Mamie Harless and J.P. and Hassie Springer.

Survivors include his son, David A. Harless of Tuscaloosa; his brothers, T. Edward Harless of Elrod, Charles P. Harless of Tuscaloosa, and Harry Harless of Northport; and his grandchildren, Wesley Harless and Suzanne Harless.

Mr. Harless graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and worked for over 41 years at BF Goodrich in Tuscaloosa. He was affectionately known as “Big Daddy” to many.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Bosch, Blake Bosch, Jeff Harless, Michael Harless, Ricky Patrick, and Johnny Hill.

Honorary pallbearers are Bill Nichols Veterans Home 3rd Floor nurses, Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center, Rick Humpheries, and friends of the Elrod community.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama or one’s favorite charity.

Clarence Emory Harless Obituary

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. Clarence “Emory” Harless, 63, was born March 19, 1947, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He passed away Friday, September 24, 2010, at his residence in Winter Haven, Florida.

He worked for Mosaic for 35 years. He was an avid motorcyclist and diver.

He is survived by his daughter, Keri Rom of Walton, Kentucky; sisters, Janina Urquhart of Immokalee, Florida and Kyraen Monica of Englewood, Florida; uncles, Kiwanis Harless, Mike Harless, and Bowaski Harless; aunt, Pat Harless; cousins, Yvonne Ballard, Renee Sanders, Denise Hughes, Yvette Middleton, and Johannah Harless; and many other cousins, nieces, and nephews.
